Orange County Great Park & Ice Rink

The Orange County Great Park is a public park located in Irvine, California with a focus on sports, agriculture, and the arts. The Great Park Ice Rink Project consisted of the construction of a 280,000 square foot ice rink and sports complex, featuring four rinks, able to accommodate various activities. One rink includes stadium style seating for 2,500.

Design elements requiring special inspection included reinforced concrete footings and slab on grade, structural steel columns, composite steel decking with concrete fill, spray-applied fireproofing, precast risers, reinforced masonry walls, embeds, anchors, and dowels. Twining was contracted to perform comprehensive testing and inspection services of reinforced concrete, reinforced masonry, structural steel, spray-applied fireproofing, epoxy dowels, wedge anchors, and embeds.
