LAWA, Specialty Staff and Materials Testing On-Call
The Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) is the airport authority that owns both Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and Van Nuys Airport (VNY). Of these two, LAX, is considered the 3rd busiest airport in the world and the United States. Handling over 60 million passengers a year. This project consists various projects at LAX and VNY. The scope of these projects includes building inspection services, geophysical surveying, mapping services, and testing laboratories.
After being deemed the top-ranking firm for both the proposal and interview process, Twining was recently awarded a three year on-call specialty staff and materials testing contract with LAWA. Work will be facilitated under the agency’s Quality Assurance & Construction Inspection Division (QACID) and will consist of various capital projects at LAX and Van Nuys Airport (VNY).
Twining successfully served as a prime special inspection and materials testing firm for three consecutive on-call contracts for Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA). We have been contracted directly through LAWA, as well as through Parsons and Berg & Associates’ PMCM contract to provide our core, flagship services as requested.
For the next three years Twining will see $4 billion in capital improvement program. Twining will be providing specialty inspection, material testing, and other services required on various improvement projects. The specialty inspections will include but are not limited to structural steel, welding, reinforced concrete, structural masonry, pre-stressed concrete, sprayed applied fireproofing, drilled-in-anchors, seismic retrofitting, and grading pursuant to the Los Angeles Municipal Code. This multi-million-dollar agreement is expected to include both vertical facilities and flatwork infrastructure improvements.
