New Twining Location in Ridgecrest!

Twining is excited to announce the opening of our Ridgecrest/China Lake testing laboratory. Our laboratory is located less than one mile from the Main and Sandquist Gates, giving us almost instant access to your project sites. Getting your materials tested has never been easier or most efficient and economical.

Through our partnership with the Lancaster office of Krazan Associates, our team has a very deep bench of certified Special Inspectors, AWS Inspectors and ACI Certified Technicians.

When the laboratory is fully functional in January 2021, we expect to have certifications/approvals from NAVFAC, AMRL, CCRL, LA City and CalTrans. We plan on having an Open House in early 2021 and hope you will take the opportunity to stop by and tour the laboratory then.

We look forward to increased project activity and servicing you through our new upgraded testing facility!

Asphalt Binders, California vs. Nevada

Caltrans and NDOT have each created polymer-modified asphalt binders that meet PG “plus” specifications that differ in their properties, but is there really a difference between the two? The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) and the Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) use different polymer-modified asphalt binders. Since the implementation of the Superpave performance grade (PG) system, several state highway agencies, including Caltrans and NDOT, have experienced good performance with polymer-modified hot mix asphalt (HMA) mixtures and have created the PG “plus” specifications to enhance the performance of flexible pavement in harsh climates.
