Our History

About Twining

1898
Fresno, CA.

Edward M. Twining Jr’s great-grandfather, Frederick E. Twining (Fred), came to Fresno in 1898 and established Cutter Laboratories. For a number of years following the lab’s establishment, Twining served as State Sanitary Inspector as well as the City Bacteriologist for Fresno. The company focused on chemistry and the production of pesticides to support the agricultural market in central California. Due to two devastating earthquakes and Fred Twining’s subsequent response to enter the construction materials testing market, the company evolved into a testing laboratory.
